Happy Wednesday my pals,

I just wanted to say thanks so much for coming to the show last Friday! Community has always been at the heart of this and Friday felt like a real joyous reflection of that. Consider the cobwebs blown off, we’re so back.

I’m also really enjoying the mailing list as a means of staying in touch a bit more directly and personally.I t’s getting to release time again, and it all feels (excitingly) relentless on the ‘content’ / World Building front, so i’m retreating here to stay connected and just ramble a bit / keep a bit of a shared diary.

So, If there’s any questions about anything along the way or you have a curiosity about what we’re doing Live / how something works in the studio / what i’ve had for breakfast, please do ask. We’re no red hand files yet but i guess you’ve got some interest if you’re signed up here.

Finally…

The day after the show me and Jo went and recorded some drums for the single to be released after wouldn’t it be cool comes out, both a little bit run down and tired from the show and a hectic week. After having a somewhat Toto-esque mic setup on the kit we ended up sacking it all off and using a D112 on the Kick and an SM58 as an Overhead/Everything else mic. We’ve had endless conversations on how to record recently, and the only thing we come back to as a cornerstone is a question. Is there spirit in it, is the spirit right, have we captured the spirit. And if the answers yes, we’re happy. I’ll put a link to listen to those raw drums for anyone who might find it interesting…..

Basically, It’s become about the essence, and something that’s distilled quite beautifully through everything we’re making now, something that i have faith in and believe will show itself without being forced. I feel like this spirit is what i’m always trying to convey and used to feel frustrated that i couldn’t quite ‘get right’ or was a thing that people weren’t ‘getting’. That’s evaporated now, you’re all here cus you have some of that spirit within you. A desire to understand the inbetweens, to watch another sunset, to punch the air for no apparent reason. I’m gonna stop trying to explain it any further… Onwards!

Happy Sunday Homies, hope everyone is happy and having a nice weekend.

I’ve chopped and changed and written about three different versions of this over the past few days. Since last weeks show this letter/ramble has garnered some kind of ritualistic importance for me and feels like i now have a bit of a responsibility to fulfill it and it is actually very helpful in making sense of my few days and keeping track of whats happened.

Wouldn’t it be cool got it’s first spin on BBC Introducing last night, you can listen back to that here, - Dean with sweet words about the track and what’s to come. What an absolute pillar of the BBC and it’s musical endeavours he is.

What else has been going on… oh! You can now pre-save wouldn’t it be cool, the button will be below and you can add it to wherever you stream or listen so its there on release day. That’s pretty much it really in music land, i have had thousands of thoughts that i’m trying to make sense of on creativity and this current process but that’s slowly being worked out. More when i have it. Other than that i’ve been working loads to pay the bills and in between that i’ve been recording some new music.
